Pete peppers the song with some ominous power chords. Site developed and maintained by Omni Jacala. The first 13 seasons of the series are available to stream on Netflix now!

They capture a magical point in time when many believed that The Who were the greatest pop and rock group on Earth. Some call and response with the piano from The Ox. Roger Arnsparger, who is assisting the Eternal Life Apostolate in promoting Fr. I think this song intentionally recalls Listening to You a little bit - an expression of individual triumph after surviving great adversity No matter what, Pete and his various personifications are always one.

Who’s next for Michigan on the road to sainthood?

It's a tangential point, but the discussion of John's solo work made me look into fleshing out my collection and hearing some of the lesser-known stuff for the first time. Turns out as many of you probably already knewJohn's solo work is very poorly represented out in the world whos next youtube 2018. He barely shows up on Spotify and Amazon Unlimited, and it looks like the vast majority of his albums if not his entire catalog is out of print and generally fetching high prices on the secondary market. John Entwistle Biography Due Ocotober 2019 With the full co-operation of the Entwistle family and the Who's long-term management, Trinifold, The Ox will shine a long overdue light on one of the single greatest, and most impactful, figures in rock history. Perhaps the catalog will get some needed attention as well. I prefer the original mixes myself. The Song Is Over The song begins abruptly with piano, synth and guitar. The amazing pianist Nicky Hopkins plays the song's chords mostly Eb, Bb to F with beautiful voicing's of 7ths and 9ths. Rock simplicity at the root but stunning use of embellished chords. Quick triplet melodic hooks tie it all together. Pete sings mellow whos next youtube the melody tugs at the heartstrings. Schubert like in its beauty and similar to how Schubert wrote whos next youtube in a major key but it sounds like a somber minor key. Your emotions are torn right and left. The verse continues at :54 with sad news and a touch of finality. At 1:16, Moonie kicks in and Pete hangs on to the final chord of the verse to start the amazing chorus. Pete keeps the chorus grounded in rock with a power chord but Nicky plays chords similar to the verse underneath. At 1:26 the chorus changes key up a step to add to the emotional impact. A refrain of to the free and then another key change of the chorus follows. Shades of romantic classical music the way Pete treats the chorus. Listen for John cooking at 2:07. Yet another key change at 2:09 for the guitar break. A transition section follows with more great piano work from Nicky. A bridge follows in E at 2:34. The verse finally returns and the synth rises in the mix. The chorus follows and the song picks up speed. At 4:15 a boogie like treatment of the chorus with no lyrics enters to break the song up and keep it rooted in rock and roll. The final verse returns with the quicker tempo driving the song home. Then a surprise coda enters based on the song Pure and Easy with whos next youtube changed to fit the present song. Moonie really shows off and the song picks up tempo to drive the tune to its conclusion ending on a triumphant sounding C chord. I always thought Pete may have gotten some chord ideas for this song from Laura Nyro. Maybe after hearing her at Monterey Pop. I don't think he ever mentioned her as an influence. Some shades of Brian Wilson in the way the chorus changes key and rises a la some stuff from Pet Sounds. The song really grabbed me from the start. Interested to see what you folks think of it. I know a few fans that think it is too repetitive. Song Is Whos next youtube is more brilliant songwriting from Pete. The he countervoices of Pete and Roger stress their feelings: Pete-melancholy, Roger-defiance. A little bit of boogie in the rhythm. Some call and response with the piano from The Ox. The verse kicks in starting on B and then goes to G borrowed from B minor. The chords go back to B at :20. At :23 a new progression enters and is based on R and B somewhat. Some great chord changes that really move the song along and the shift between B major and minor turn the song into an emotional roller coaster ride. Moonie and John are both amazing. John sounds fine on the vocals. At 1:19 a bridge enters starting on E and then rising back to B. John tries to justify his actions. At 1:30 the intro chords return but now with a cool horn fanfare from John that sounds almost Chicago style. The intro morphs into a chorus to my ears. The verse returns at 2:02 and the bridge follows at 2:33 with John to the point of almost quitting but a second wind gets him on his way. Pete peppers the song with some ominous power chords. The song gradually fades with John still on the run. Lots of root movement in the chords. Dare I say it but the lyrics always struck me as a little humorous. After listening to this for a few days I just don't have the heart to say anything should replace it. I am waffling on my original comments but I think it is a fine foil to Pete's distinctive songwriting style. Love Ain't for Keeping A little country bluegrass type tug on the bottom string and a quick intro and its off to the country races with a chord progression of A-G-D. Mixolydian mode countrified along the way. The turnaround line goes to the D at :21 and then at :28 the chorus goes to a C Chord for a little bit of borrowing from the A minor key. A cool melody that is tinged with country as well. Blues and country guitar fills galore. The second verse at :40 has fantastic harmonies from Pete and John. Moon keeps a little subdued to fit the song. The break at 1:24 has Pete playing some licks that are straight out of the Lynyrd Whos next youtube handbook but two years before Skynyrd. Like I said, Mixolydian mode A-G-D chords as well. Anyway, no more verses and just the chorus at 1:44 which is repeated to bring the song to its conclusion almost. A fine song that is laid back and somewhat atypical for them. They went towards country at times before this though. Great arrangement on the acoustic guitars. Roger is subdued somewhat as well but sounds just right. Moonie keeps it under wraps and John as well. I could have done with another verse because it is so good. Shows off their musical range. A mix of country and British in the lyrics. I saw them just a couple of months later, in November, in Memphis. During Naked Eye at the end of the show, whos next youtube switched those things on, aimed straight out into the audience, and believe me, from my fourth row seat it was transcendent. The Song Is Over: Like it was mentioned above, a perfect ending to side one. Would rather have this on the album than Pure and Easy. Also, the inclusion of My Wife is what makes it a Who album. It just all works for me and after hearing most of the Lifehouse songs that didn't make the cut for Who's Next I'm incredibly happy with the track listing and the over all feel of the album. These stations were not required to play hit singles, but could choose the tracks they liked the best. I think it's great for all whos next youtube reasons stated above, including an element of menace - that John might not escape the clutches of his wife's determined pursuit. Los Angeles, December 9, 1971 This makes me feel so very, very old. I never wore a watch when I was growing up. Commercial breaks were every 15 minutes or so. Once the traffic reports started you knew if was getting later in the afternoon. Once they stopped talking about the traffic you knew it was time for supper. Agreed that the counterpoint between Pete whos next youtube Roger is perfectly utilized here. I think this song intentionally recalls Listening to You a little bit - an expression of individual triumph after surviving great adversity No matter what, Pete and his various personifications are always one. Fantastic, thank you very much. I feel it's one of the most missed opportunities in the whole rock genre that exactly during at their absolute peak, The Who decided no cameras would be allowed at shows. I mean, it's understandable from a certain point of view not distracting the vibe etc.

John sounds fine on the vocals. That decision is up to the community! A fine song that is laid back and somewhat atypical for them.
